2021 Country Cup Rugby League

The U/13 and U/15 rugby league teams will both progress to the next round of the state wide Country Cup competition after winning the local region in Week 7. It was a very competitive day of football and both groups showed great commitment to their team and pride in the College to be successful.
15s Team
The U/15’s are to be commended on the way they combined as a unit. They played 4 physical games on the day which meant that many were sore and bruised. However, they maintained strong defense and ran with determination. In their pool they defeated St Paul’s Kempsey 16- 6, Hastings Secondary College 20- 8 and Camden Haven High 18-6. In the final against Macksville High the SJRC U/ 15 not only won a tough game but hopefully gained some lessons about how to play sport and life. Over the 4 games the team only conceded 4 tries which illustrates the way they worked together and the pride they showed in their team and school. It was the extra level of class and skill that enabled the victories particularly with some surging runs and impressive passing that created opportunities to score out wide.
Whilst it was definitely a team effort special mention goes out to
Kayden Jones Moore, Jack Alchin, Clay Atkins, Colbi Hunt, Eli Davies and Riley Bugden.
Hopefully both teams will be able to show similar qualities when they play the winners of the Coffs and Taree regions in the Mid North Coast final in Week 9.
