Acting Principal's Message

Year 10 Working from Home & All My Own Work

On Friday, 12th November 2021 we will be hosting our annual Year 7 Orientation Day for students entering Year 7 in 2022. Also, as you may be aware, Year 12 students will still be sitting their HSC exams during this time. Hosting an extra 225 students on-site, and not having our Hall available will pose considerable problems in terms of COVID-related space restrictions, and for this reason, the decision has been made that Year 10 students will work from home on this day.

One of the expectations for Year 10 students will be the completion of the “All My Own Work” course, available on the College Moodle site. Completion of this course is a NSW Government requirement for any student wishing to progress to Years 11 and 12 in any educational institution in NSW. Before 12th November, I will meet with Year 10 and explain the requirements of this course, as well as supply them with a note explaining the requirements, and how to access the course. A copy of this note is attached to this email for your information.

Should you require your child to be present at school on 12th November 2021, please contact Mr Michael Walsh (Assistant Principal – Mission) so we can make suitable arrangements to accommodate them on the day.

Digital Display Night

Sadly, our annual College Display Night has been cancelled for the third consecutive year. Bushfires and COVID 19 have contributed to the cancellations. This event is always an opportunity to invite our families into the College to experience a taste of the talent and gifts our students possess and showcase student work from the TAS and Creative Arts KLA's. With so much work to celebrate and present to our community, this year we will present a "Digital Display Night"

This will not occur in one night, but over 2 weeks. Our Facebook page will showcase our student work over weeks 7 and 8. Despite the disruptions to learning this year the work is still amazing!

Keep an eye out for it!

Movember

movember_1.jpg

Many thanks to Mr Simon Gudgeon and Ms Kylie Wallis who are organising our Movember this year.

Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues.

Details for Movember and Mo your own way - Narly Nails.

At lunchtime, on Monday, 1st November we will have the opening ceremony in the PAC for staff and students. Students will sign up before this date via an email which will be sent to them after I speak to them tomorrow morning.

Staff will also receive an email so we can get as many as possible on board.

Boys come cleanly shaven and girls with plain cut 'netball style' nails (can't be seen or felt over the top). Nails need to be natural no fake nails. Teachers and students will be buddied up and will come up with a plan for their matching mo's/nails. This year we are working together as a team event to raise the most funds, grow the best matching mo's and/or nails.

Following is the Movember fundraising page link.  Movember SJRC Fundraiser

Please be reminded that YEAR 11 are the only students permitted to participate in Movember in 2021.

Face Masks

Mask Making.jpg

The College has received confirmation on Thursday, 14th October from the Catholic Schools Office Lismore that schools will remain under Level 3 COVID-19 restrictions until at least 1st December. This means students will continue to be required to wear face masks indoors and on buses.

Please be reminded that it is the responsibility of each student to bring a face mask to school each day and a spare if their mask breaks or is lost. Students need to wear masks correctly over their noses.  The College will be limiting the supply of masks to students as directed by the CSO. Students need to take greater responsibility for mask-wearing at the College.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
