2024 NSW All Schools Touch Football State Final

On 13th August, SJRC sent two teams to Penrith to contest the NSW All Schools Touch Football State Final. The All Schools pathway is one of the strongest school based competitions with many schools fielding NSW players.
The teams travelled to Penrith on the 12th of August before a light trianing run Monday afternoon and dinner at Penrith Leagues Club. It was an early night with the potential of 8 games of touch football the next day.
Overcast skies and light drizzle greeted us on a relativley mild day at the foot of the hills.
The Yr 9/10 Boys started strong defeating Orange HS 5 -3 and Tomaree HS 5-3. The team then played two of the highest quality touch games of the day narrowly going down to All Saints Maitland 4-2 and St Augustines 5-2. Following a bye and a strong performance against Muswellbrook 8-1, the team's fate was sealed by some upsets and draws in other pool games. After going down to Kildare CC 7-5, the boys finished 4th in arguably a stronger pool.
Thank you to Mr Gudgeon for his effort working with the boys and congratulations on finishing 7th overall.
The Yr 7/8 Boys also started well defeating South Coast team Carroll Coolege 5-1. A nail biting defeat against All Saints College 2-1 rattled the team which lead to another loss to Mater Maria College 3-1. The team bounced back for a win against Armidale Secondary 3-2 before losing to Orange HS 2-0. Unfortunatley this eliminated us from finals, placing us 4th in the pool and 7th overall.
Thank you Mr Prince for your contribution and coaching experience you provided to the boys. We look forward to SJRC's 2025 Touch Football campaign.
