Celebrating Our Minds: Tournament of Minds 2025
Congratulations to our incredible teams who represented our school with distinction at the recent Tournament of Minds competition!
This unique program is all about creative problem-solving and collaboration. Over six weeks, two of our dedicated teams worked tirelessly to develop a solution to a long-term challenge, showcasing their hard work on presentation day in Coffs Harbour. They also proved their quick thinking by tackling a "Spontaneous Challenge" on the spot.
We are thrilled to announce that our Social Sciences team emerged victorious in their division! Congratulations to Danielle Steele, Chelsea Copeland, Haylee Vos, Louisa Smith, Araminta Walker, Anika Grogan, and Megan Germany. Their innovative thinking and collaborative spirit truly shone through, earning them a well-deserved spot in the State Finals. We wish them the very best as they prepare for the next stage of this exciting competition!
We’re also incredibly proud of our Language Literature team, who overcame significant challenges to present an impactful solution to their challenge last weekend. Well done to Siya Modi, Glynnie Mae Domingo, Jewel Anosh, Aislinn Suveesh, and Violet Bellia.
Congratulations to both teams for their dedication and effort! We wish our Social Sciences team the very best of luck at the state finals next weekend.
A special thank you to Leader of High Potential Learners, Bronwyn Canning and Leader of Pedagogy, Mrs Claire Goldie, for their guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the preparation and competition process.

NAIDOC 2025 – Celebrating 50 Years
NAIDOC is an acronym for the National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee. It is usually celebrated in the first week of July each year. However, to make this year’s ceremony extra special, we held our NAIDOC Assembly later in the year so that Uncle Bill O'Brien could join us for the acknowledgement. I was really proud to hear our Indigenous students share their story and celebrate what they love most about being Aboriginal, while they also honoured the Elders who inspire them. I thank College Vice Captain, Esther Cummins and Student House Leader, Ashton Daley, both proud Indigenous women, for leading our assembly.
NAIDOC Week is a time to honour and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is also an opportunity for all Australians to deepen their understanding of First Nations cultures and histories, while recognising the resilience and continuity of the world’s oldest living civilisations.
This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC, with the theme “The Next Generation.” It celebrates the strength of young leaders, the guidance of Elders, and the cultural legacy passed down through generations.
Each year, a NAIDOC poster is created by an Aboriginal artist. This year’s poster, titled 'Ancestral Lines' by Jeramy Morgan Worrall, is described by the artist as “a visual representation of the lines and ties that follow a generation and the songs that come with it.” It represents the ties and songlines passed from one generation to the next. Inspired by his ancestors’ resilience, Jeramy’s work reflects both strength and hope. The swirling skies and moon of Tenterfield, where he grew up, symbolise a place of gathering, vision and legacy for the future.
This year’s NAIDOC Week is not only a celebration of history and culture, but also a powerful reminder of the responsibility we all share in nurturing and supporting the next generation of leaders.
