2021 Year Seven Swimming Proficiency Test

In week three term one, year seven students complete a compulsory swimming proficiency test at Wauchope Pool.  2021’s test is being held Tuesday the 9th of February in period five.  Year seven students are required to bring swimmers and a towel and may wear their sport uniform all day.  The cost of the day is included in their yearly sport levy.  Students are transported by Port Bus and return in time for normal buses.  Permission was included in the enrollment process.

The test involves the following:

• slide entry into the shallow end of the 50m pool
• wading 5 metres
• swimming 40m using any stroke without touching lane ropes or the bottom
• treading water for 1 minute at the deep end
• getting themselves out of the pool without assistance

Parents of students who are deemed not-proficient are notified by email or letter and provided with details of local businesses who have learn to swim classes.
