2021 Tom Jenkins Rowing & MTB Success - Part II

Tom has continued his good form mountain biking winning another U18 Shimano GP (4 hour XC) event at Mt Stromlo, Canberra a couple of weeks back and now leads that series again this year and is racing this weekend at Awaba (Newcastle) in an Enduro event.

He has continued to train 5-6 mornings (up at 5:15am to train 6am-7:45am) a week for the last few months on the Hastings River rowing in preparation for the NSW Grade Rowing Championships which were hosted on the Nepean River, Penrith over the weekend of the 17th & 18th of April.  He raced both days in a single and double scull.  In the single he made his way through his heat, a semi final and placed third in the final winning a Bronze medal in D grade.  In the double scull, rowing with another boy from SCAS they won their heat and placed first in the final earning a Gold medal in D grade.  

Massive achievement  given this wasn't an age competition but an all ages event where Tom was up against many University club rowers and other mature age athletes and alos pretty significant being a State Championship.....also a great result given they won the double in one of the St Josephs Regional boats that was donated to the Port Macq Rowing Club so it was great to have that association with the school in this result.
