On Tuesday evening, a beautiful Graduation Mass was held at St Agnes' Church, officiated by Fr. Roland Agrisola. This spiritual ceremony brought together staff, students, and their families for a meaningful and reflective experience.
The festivities continued on Wednesday with a Major Awards Ceremony, where we celebrated the outstanding academic and cultural achievements of our Year 12 students. It was a day filled with recognition and pride as we acknowledged their accomplishments and wished them success in their future endeavours. Thank you to Mr Matthew Bushe for organising the blessing for Year 12, sung by the staff of St Joseph's Regional College, this was certainly a special moment for all involved.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Fr. Roland Agrisola for his support, and invaluable words of wisdom shared during the ceremony.
Our appreciation also goes to, our commentator Mr Matthew Bushe, Assistant Principal-Mission, and Mr Shane Hyland for organising the Mass.
To Year 11 students Maisy Taylor and Gabriel Moore for the thoughtful farewell speech to Year 12 students that they delivered on the evening.
The Mass was made even more special by our talented musicians and singers in attendance. Thank you to Millie Read, Max Troth, Patrick McGahon, Tomas Bush, Lauren Johnston, Georgia McMahon, Aysha Wilson, Imogen Baker, Darcy Richards, Adam Cook, Aryan Vaishnav, Isabella Campbell, Mitchell Stephens, Phoebe White and Alannah Steele. Your musical contributions undoubtedly enhanced the spiritual atmosphere of the Mass.

Principal
On Wednesday, we gathered as a College community to witness the announcement of, and inauguration of our Student Leadership Team for 2024. I sincerely thank our Senior Leaders of Student Wellbeing, Mrs Croft and Ms Flanagan for their careful work in preparing the students to undertake these positions.
Our College candle represents the light of Jesus and the life and faith of our College. It assists in lighting the way for our journey through our school years and into adult life. It also represents the collective leadership shown by our past Year 12 students.
As one group graduates and departs the College, another step up to fill the role, and as such, at the Ceremony of Light, our 2023 College Captains Sarah Garrett and Findlay Marshall, passed on this symbol to the newly elected College Captains for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024, Alaska Webber and Jamie Vinod.

Reminder for HSC support and supervision
Students are strongly encouraged to continue to access the full range of support services at the College and make the preparation for the HSC exams their core priority over the next month. To further support our Year 12 students, the College will be open throughout the Term 3 Semester holidays from 9.00 am until 1.00 pm each day (excluding the public holiday on Monday 2nd October) to provide a quiet supervised environment for students to prepare for the exams.
Go Red for Dyslexia
October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, aimed at raising awareness and starting conversations around Dyslexia. In support of the #GoRedforDyslexia campaign, students are invited to wear a RED accessory with their uniform on Friday 13th October in Week 1, in support and acknowledgement of those who have dyslexia.
On Wednesday of Week 1 staff and students are invited to: Talking about Dyslexia - Lunchtime Library Discussion.
Dyslexia is a neurological disability that affects 1 in 5 people and impacts on the development of literacy skills. It is characterised by problems with spelling, accurate or fluent word recognition, working memory, phonological decoding and weak phonemic awareness. Put more simply, people with dyslexia have difficulty processing/identifying the sounds in written and spoken language, which makes reading/writing/spelling difficult.
Early identification and intervention are key to helping students with dyslexia. By providing effective classroom practice and intervention where required for students, all learners have the opportunity to succeed.
If you are looking for further information on dyslexia, the Code Read website, https://codereadnetwork.org/ has some great information and resources as does the NSW SPELD website https://www.speldnsw.org.au/information/dyslexia/
