SJRC News in Brief: Term 3 Week 3 -9th August 2024

Year 9 Boys' through to State Finals

Congratulations to our Year 9 Boys' Debating Team, consisting of Noah Langdon, Tim James and Riley Robinson, who came away with first place at the Diocesan Debating Competition, held here at the College on Tuesday. It was a remarkable effort by all teams who debated various topics against other schools across the Lismore Diocese.  Our boys' team will now travel to Sydney to compete in the State Finals.

Madge passes her Accreditation

Madge_gold_medal.jpgEach year, our golden girl of the Doggie Arena is assessed and undergoes a re-accreditation exam. I am happy to announce that Madge has passed with flying colours. Eliza Crombie expertly led Madge, who has been training her this year in preparation for the big event.
To Ms Kylie Wallis, Madge's mum, thank you, for doing all the work you do with Madge, every day. Special mention to Donna Hamlin for organising the training sessions.
Well done, and congratulations, Madge. We look forward to your continued work at the College.

Year 11 2025 Interviews

This week, we commenced the interview process for enrolment into Year 11 2025. I urge students who are unsure of where they would like to complete their senior studies to speak to me.

HSC Trial Examinations

We keep our Year 12 students in our prayers as they continue their HSC Trial Examinations, which will wrap up on Monday, August 19th. I extend my gratitude to Ms Marchment and Mrs Goldie for opening the Library to Year 12 students over the last two Sundays as a study space during this important time.

Please find below a copy of the exam timetable.

Parent-Teacher Interviews - Years 7-12

Monday, 26th August 2024  4:00pm- 7:00pm

Parent_teacher_connect.jfif

Parent-teacher interviews are an important opportunity for parents to discuss the progress of their sons/daughters with teachers and to help formulate strategies to assist their children in their educational journey.

  • As many teachers have a full programme of interviews through the night, I would ask that parents respect the 5-minute time allocation for interviews (if an extended discussion is needed, a separate time should be booked through the College office to see the teacher).
  • Also, I would ask that parents adhere to the allocated time slots – if a teacher appears to be “free” it may be the only break they have all night

How to book a Parent-Teacher Interview:

All interviews are to be booked via the Compass App.

Further information regarding the evening and the link to book an interview will be sent out via the Compass App on Monday.

Bookings will open on Monday 12th August
and close on Monday, 26th August at 10:00am

We look forward to meeting with you.
