SJRC News in Brief: Term 4 Week 3 - 1st November 2024
Pupil Free Day
Friday 8th November - Curriculum Planning Day
Friday the 8th November will be a student-free day.
On this day, staff will continue to program, resource, and prepare to implement the large number of new syllabus documents that NESA will be implementing over the next few years. The syllabuses cover all subject areas and mirror the changes that have also been occurring in primary schools.
Next year, we will see the implementation of new syllabuses in most subject areas across Years 7-11. The implementation program will continue over the following two years.
Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) Accreditation
On World Teachers’ Day last Friday, I had the privilege of accompanying Mrs Vanessa Gray to NSW Parliament House. Mrs Gray was one of 34 teachers in NSW to be celebrated in the prestigious ceremony for attaining the highest level of teacher accreditation.
HALT accreditation reflects the innovative and exemplary teaching practices of educators that enhance and improve learning outcomes for students. Congratulations Mrs Gray.
RockSchool Exam Success
Fourteen students from across the St Agnes' Parish Secondary Schools gathered at St Joseph's Regional College on Friday, 11th October and Saturday, 12th October to sit their RockSchool Exams as administered by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB). We had seven drummers from the College take part and we are pleased to share their fantastic results.
- Samuel Duff, Year 10 earned a Distinction with a score of 94% for his Grade 6 exam
- Dominic Matheson, Year 11 also received a Distinction along with the highest score of the day with 96% in Grade 5.
- Jarrod Muller, Year 9 earned a Distinction with a score of 93% in Grade 4.
- Gus Hornery, Year 7 also snagged a Distinction for his 95% in Grade 2.
- Phoenix Kitching, Year 9, Matilda Coleman and Lachlan Matheson, Year 8 received a Merit for their scores of 83%, 88%, and 80%, respectively, for their Grade 1 exams.
Well done to all participating students. Keep up the good work.

- Itinerary and learning experiences;
- What to pack;
- Camp staffing and organisation;
- Student expectations and support.
It is hoped that each student and a parent/carer will attend the evening.
Community Celebration - Christ the King - Sunday 24th November
Our parish community is wonderfully diverse, with many of us gathering together across schools, chapels, and aged care centres throughout the year. Outside of our regular local gatherings, we sometimes hear about the wider community but rarely get the chance to come together as One Body.
On 24 November, we will be combining all Sunday Masses so we can celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King as One Body in a tangible way, with Mass at St Joseph’s Regional College at 10:00am and festivities to follow. After Mass, you can enjoy:
- Coffee
- Food
- Music & other performances from students and parishioners across the Parish and across our schools.
- Kids’ activities
We encourage everyone to consider registering to attend, getting an act together to perform, or joining in by serving on the day. Follow the link below to RSVP or express interest in performing/serving.
