All Schools are required to adhere to the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) and the Disability Standards for Education 2005 (DSE). St Joseph’s Regional College, therefore, makes reasonable adjustments to ensure students with a disability are able to participate in education on the same basis as students without a disability.
Children have additional needs for a variety of reasons, including having a disability, living in complex or vulnerable circumstances, and their cultural, linguistic or family background. Ultimately, including children with any additional needs is about equity, respect for diversity, and having high expectations.
St Joseph’s Regional College receives additional funding from the State Government and The Catholic Schools Office Lismore to support children with additional needs. The funds are used to support children in the following areas:
Student Learning- Support and improve the learning of all students, especially those with a verified disability.
Student engagement and wellbeing- Support the access and participation of students in an inclusive environment.
Student pathways and transitions- Support transitions for students through school and post-school.
